Overview

The Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority provides funding for skills development, research, postgraduate bursaries, and strategic projects through its 2026/2027 Cycle 4 Discretionary Grants. This funding addresses skills shortages and strengthens workforce development within South Africa's chemical sector, aligning with national skills plans and strategic priorities. The funding supports training activities scheduled between April 2026 and March 2027.

Who can apply

Qualifying chemical-sector employers, training providers, educational institutions, government entities, non-profit organisations, and other stakeholders may apply. Eligible participants include chemical-sector companies that submitted their Annual Training Report and Workplace Skills Plan to the authority, non-levy-paying companies in the sector, accredited training providers, small and medium enterprises, community-based organisations, non-governmental organisations, cooperatives, municipalities, technical and vocational education and training colleges, community education and training colleges, and higher education institutions.

Requirements

Applicants must prepare project proposals, compliance records, and supporting documents for online submission. Mandatory compliance documents include proof of organisation registration, valid tax compliance documentation, a valid broad-based black economic empowerment certificate where applicable, a signed declaration of interest regarding potential relationships with board members and management, and banking details. Affidavits signed by a Commissioner of Oaths can replace inapplicable documents. New applicants and facilitators must also provide a signed appointment letter on company letterhead.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online through the Integrated Management System portal. Manual applications, emailed submissions, and late submissions are not accepted. Applicants must review the official funding advert, choose a matching strategic project or learning programme, prepare the required project proposals and compliance documents, and upload them to the portal.

Key dates

The funding window opens on 6 October 2026 and closes on 16 October 2026. An additional deadline of 9 October 2026 applies for uploading supporting documents to the Integrated Management System portal.
