Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 4.0 2026
Overview
The Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 4.0 2026 is the fourth funding cycle of the Foundation for Black Communities' flagship Black Ideas Grant programme. It invests in Black-led, Black-serving and Black-mandated (B3) organizations and groups creating positive change in Black communities across Canada. Using a participatory grantmaking approach, it supports community-driven solutions that strengthen organizational capacity, improve access to programmes and services, and create lasting impact. Funded work should contribute to one or more focus areas: combating anti-Black racism, improving social outcomes, and improving economic outcomes.
What you get
There are three funding streams, and applicants choose the one that best fits their needs and stage of development. The Core Stream offers up to $30,000 for core and operational needs unrelated to programming. The Catapult Stream offers up to $80,000 to start new programmes and services or expand existing ones. The Community Spaces Stream offers up to $200,000 for capital projects and social infrastructure.

B3 organizations at various stages of development are invited to apply. Unincorporated organizations or groups may apply in partnership with an incorporated B3 organization.
