Overview

The AL for Agribusiness Network invites individuals with an interest in sustainable food systems, agriculture, and entrepreneurship to join or establish collaborative Working Groups. These groups serve as platforms where participants combine their expertise, identify shared challenges, and develop practical solutions that benefit the wider agribusiness community. The initiative accommodates diverse professional backgrounds and offers options for both short-term taskforces and longer-term communities of practice.

Who can apply

The opportunity is open to individuals who are passionate about improving food systems and bringing relevant experience, skills, or ideas to a Working Group. Applications are submitted individually, though each group must ultimately include at least a core of three members affiliated with ALA or the AL for Agribusiness. External collaborators are also welcome to join alongside the core network members, and applicants who do not yet have a complete team can request assistance to connect with relevant network participants.

What you get

Participants can choose between two participation tracks. Track A supports project-based initiatives intended to produce specific outputs such as pilot projects, research papers, or practical tools, with funding available of up to US$1,000 per group. Track B centers on community and knowledge sharing, focusing on peer learning, networking, and mentorship without requiring a funded project. Selected groups can also request support that includes coaching, expert introductions, and connections to partner organizations.

Requirements

Applicants must select up to three impact areas that align with their proposed problem from a wide range of thematic categories, including farming production, agribusiness, finance, technology, skills development, policy, food systems, climate, gender inclusion, communication, and research. Groups must define their objectives, membership plans, intended duration of three months, six months, or twelve months or longer, and expected outputs. Groups applying for financial assistance must submit a realistic budget and implementation proposal within the maximum allocation limit.

How to apply

Interested individuals must submit their proposals through the online AL for Agribusiness Network Working Group Interest Form. The application requires contact details, professional role, the targeted problem, impact areas, participation track, group name, objectives, membership plans, support requirements, expected outputs, and duration.

Key dates

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
