Overview

The World Bank Government Analytics Fellowship 2027 is a capacity-building programme designed for government officials and public servants. Its objective is to strengthen the capability of public administration to use administrative and government data for better decision-making, institutional performance, and evidence-based policymaking. The programme is built on the Government Analytics Handbook and moves beyond theoretical discussions to emphasize the development and implementation of a practical Government Analytics project addressing real challenges within government.

Who can apply

The fellowship invites applications from dedicated government officials, public servants, and practitioners who want to lead institutional change and use data to improve public-sector functioning. The 2027 programme offers three participation tracks consisting of an online-only option, an immersive in-person fellowship, and a regional hub model. These pathways accommodate different participant locations, circumstances, availability, and project requirements.

What you get

Participants learn from experts associated with the Government Analytics Handbook, receive support from specialists at the World Bank and the University of Oxford, and connect with a global community of public servants, academics, and data specialists. Selected fellows may receive dedicated mentoring from a World Bank expert whose expertise aligns with their project. For the immersive in-person track, participants take part in a two-week experience in Washington, DC, working with World Bank staff, academics, experts, and peers. The World Bank covers hotel, travel, and subsistence costs for participants from official development assistance eligible countries taking part in the Washington, DC course, subject to applicable fellowship arrangements.
