TWAS Research Professors in LDCs 2026/2027

Overview

The TWAS Research Professors in LDCs 2026/2027 programme aims to help institutions and research groups in Least Developed Countries establish long-term links with TWAS members and TWAS Young Affiliates or Alumni. This initiative assists with research activities and advanced training to help develop local scientific capacities. Under this programme, selected TWAS Members and TWAS Young Affiliates or Alumni receive appointments as TWAS Research Professors. Each appointment lasts for one year, during which the professor is expected to visit the host institution for two to four weeks.

Who can apply

Requests are accepted from research groups and scientific institutions located in Least Developed Countries. The programme specifically supports visits of TWAS Members and TWAS Young Affiliates or Alumni to Least Developed Countries.

What you get

TWAS provides round-trip economy class travel, any additional travel expenses incurred by the TWAS Research Professor, and an honorarium. The host institution is expected to cover local expenses.

Requirements

Both the TWAS Research Professor and the host institution must provide a comprehensive report upon completing the visit.
