Stanford University Fisher Family Summer Fellows Program 2027: Applications Open for Global Leaders
Overview
The Stanford University Fisher Family Summer Fellows Program is a leadership training initiative focused on governance, economic development, and democracy. Formerly known as the Draper Hills Summer Fellows Program and running since 2005, the program is hosted by the Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law within Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. The initiative brings together around 28 to 30 practitioners per cohort to exchange ideas and examine the practical challenges of sustaining democratic institutions and advancing reform in their home countries.
Who can apply
The program targets mid-career professionals and experienced practitioners who have shown a commitment to enhancing governance, economic development, public policy, civic engagement, legal reform, and the rule of law in their societies. Eligible participants often work in environments where democratic freedoms and institutional stability are vulnerable or undergoing transition. Fellows may come from diverse professional backgrounds including civil society, government, entrepreneurship, law, public policy, journalism, international development, and academia.
Key dates
Applications for the 2027 cohort must be submitted by January 12, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
