Simons Foundation Fellows-to-Faculty Program 2027
Overview
The Simons Foundation Fellows-to-Faculty Program 2027 is administered by the Simons Foundation Autism and Neuroscience division to assist early-career scientists in moving into tenure-track faculty roles. This initiative provides financial support, mentorship, and career development to foster new talent and expand the community of researchers contributing to the division's basic science goals. The program aims to encourage innovation and collaboration by backing researchers from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
Who can apply
Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or an equivalent doctoral degree. Applicants need to be in a non-independent mentored research training position within a faculty member's research laboratory, such as a postdoctoral or physician-scientist research fellowship position. Individuals who have accepted a formal offer for a tenure-track faculty position or equivalent prior to receiving an award notification are not eligible.
Applicants cannot hold substantial federal grant funding as a principal investigator, such as an NIH R01, or other principal investigator-level faculty funding like the SFARI Pilot Award. Additionally, candidates must not hold other career development awards that aid a transition to an independent research career at the time of application or simultaneously with this award. Applicants are restricted to a maximum of two years of submissions for this award and its predecessor independence programs, though they may apply to more than one science area in a given year. There are no citizenship restrictions for this program.
What you get
Selected participants receive a Faculty Research Award totaling $200,000 USD per year for a duration of three years, which includes 20 percent indirect costs. An optional Postdoctoral Award of $110,000 USD per year is also available for up to two years.
