Overview

The Sauti Africa Network Media Mentorship Programme 2027 is an immersive, skills-based internship organised in collaboration with The African Press Club. The initiative seeks to develop Africa's upcoming media professionals by offering practical newsroom exposure, professional guidance, and chances to build industry connections. The programme helps participants explore their interests in journalism, hone their craft, and prepare for careers as news anchors, investigative reporters, documentary producers, editors, or digital content creators.

Who can apply

The programme is open to aspiring young journalists, journalism and mass communication students, final-year university students, recent graduates, and early-career media enthusiasts. Applicants should show boldness, curiosity, and a strong commitment to pursuing a career in media while contributing to the profession.

Requirements

Applicants must submit a curriculum vitae or résumé of up to two pages, an academic transcript, and a portfolio featuring two to three examples of past work such as articles, podcasts, or videos. Additionally, submissions must include a motivation letter of about 500 words detailing the applicant's interests, career goals, and reasons for applying, alongside contact details for two academic or professional referees. Evidence of digital media proficiency is optional but preferred, and shortlisted candidates must consent to participate in an interview.

How to apply

Complete application packages must be submitted by email to info@sautiafrica.africanpressclub.com. Incomplete submissions or those received after the deadline will not be considered.

Key dates

The application deadline is October 25, 2026. Interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place in November 2026, and the programme is proposed to start in the first quarter of 2027.
