OECD CRP Research Fellowships 2027: International Research Opportunity for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Scientists
Overview
The OECD Co-operative Research Programme (CRP) offers Research Fellowship Awards that let experienced scientists carry out short research visits in another participating country. The programme supports international collaboration in agriculture, food, forestry and fisheries and builds scientific knowledge to inform decisions on the sustainable use of natural resources. More than 75% of its fellowships lead to longer-term cooperation between fellows and host institutions.
The 2027 call funds research visits of 6 to 26 weeks. Priority areas include sustainable and resilient productivity growth, food security and nutrition, climate risks, lower emissions from agriculture and food systems, carbon sequestration, forest conservation, land degradation, livestock sustainability and animal welfare, biodiversity, ecosystem services, soil health, water and air quality, agroecology, knowledge transfer, Indigenous and traditional knowledge, and sustainable fisheries and aquaculture.
Who can apply
The fellowship is for established research scientists, not PhD students. Applicants must work at an institution in a CRP participating country and propose a host institution in a different participating country. They should normally have about four years of postdoctoral training, although researchers without a PhD may be considered in exceptional cases with equivalent expertise and an extensive publication record. An employment contract providing for continued employment after the fellowship is expected. The programme has 33 participating countries, and Brazil and Ukraine joined in July 2026.
What you get
The award is a travel lump sum made up of travel costs for a return economy-class journey, a weekly subsistence allowance of EUR 600 or EUR 650 depending on host-country living costs, and a EUR 165 terminal allowance. It does not cover family travel, visa costs, insurance, laboratory or bench fees or other expenses.
How to apply
Applicants submit an English online application with a CV, a list of publications from the previous five years and a formal acceptance letter from the host institution setting out proposed dates, objectives, methodology, contributions and equipment. Applications are judged on scientific excellence, innovation, relevance, the quality of the fellow-host collaboration, dissemination plans, practical impact and policy relevance, with preference for new collaborations.
Key dates
The deadline was 10 September 2026 at midnight Paris time. Decisions are expected by mid-December 2026, visits should not start before March 1, 2027, administrative arrangements must be completed before November 1, and departures are permitted as late as December 15, 2027.
