Mozilla Foundation Fellowships 2027-2028 (up to $125,000)
Overview
The Mozilla Foundation Fellowships 2027-2028 program awards 10 fellowships to extraordinary individuals working on technology projects that challenge the status quo and build alternatives. The program offers two distinct tracks for builders at different career stages, designed to develop participants into technology leaders. Track I involves Embedded Fellows working on projects in collaboration with and backed by a civil society organization. Track II allows Independent Fellows to pursue ambitious ideas with the freedom to choose their approach.
Who can apply
The program welcomes builders from all backgrounds and sectors whose work serves a charitable purpose and creates meaningful public benefit, even if the work is not focused on non-profits. Applicants must be legally able to receive grant funds from the Mozilla Foundation. Applications must be submitted in English, and translation tools are accepted since evaluations focus on the ideas rather than language quality.
What you get
Embedded Fellows receive a total of $100,000 USD, distributed as a $75,000 stipend and a $25,000 project budget. Independent Fellows receive a total of $125,000 USD, distributed as a $100,000 stipend and a $25,000 project budget. Embedded Fellows also receive mentorship and a community provided by their host organization.
Requirements
Applicants must describe the work they want to undertake, identify who stands to benefit, and outline the expected impacts of their work. Projects must advance the charitable mission of the Mozilla Foundation and create meaningful public benefit.

Applications follow a multi-stage process beginning with a Letter of Intent stage. A small number of shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a full application in early 2027.
Key dates
