Overview

The International Doctoral Workshop on Law and Social Change is holding its fourth edition on 10–11 June 2027 at Roma Tre University in Rome, Italy. Organised by the Doctoral Program of Law and Social Change and the Roma Tre Law Review, the workshop brings together researchers to examine contemporary legal challenges across national, international, and comparative perspectives. Attendees can present advanced-stage research projects or specific topics, receive academic feedback, and engage in interdisciplinary discussions. Four thematic areas guide the 2027 event: artificial intelligence and human challenges, the limits of legal protection against global inequality, the legal architectures of geoeconomic competition and security, and the legal protection of young people across time and space.

Who can apply

The event is intended primarily for PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scholars. Applicants are specifically welcomed from the Law Department of Roma Tre University as well as the law departments of partner universities and institutions. Researchers from other universities are also considered based on available space and the relevance of their research to the workshop themes. There are no stated age limits or nationality requirements.

Requirements

Applicants must submit a completed application form along with an abstract of the paper they intend to present. The abstract must be written in English, which is the official language of the workshop, and must not exceed 300 words. Submissions must be sent to egallo2@os.uniroma3.it by the specified deadline.
