Overview

The 2027 G. Barrie Landry Child Protection Professional Training is an intensive one-week programme run by the FXB Center for Health and Human Rights at Harvard University. It is for experienced, mid-career professionals who work to prevent and respond to child abuse, violence, exploitation and neglect, and it brings together cross-sectoral country teams from government, international organisations and local civil society. Selected teams attend from June 7 to June 11, 2027 at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts, United States.

What you get

All Harvard University course fees are covered for admitted participants, with support from the G. Barrie Landry Fund for Child Protection Professional Training and UNICEF USA. Participants pay for their own travel, accommodation, living expenses, visa arrangements and any meals not included in the training.

Who can apply

Individual applications are not accepted. Each application must come from a three-member, cross-sectoral country team. Participants may work in government ministries or agencies, international organisations, UN bodies, local or national NGOs, child protection and social welfare institutions, human rights organisations, or public health, education and justice bodies.

What the training covers

Teams work on a real child protection problem from their own country and develop practical options to apply afterwards. The programme looks at how violence and exploitation affect children's development, multidisciplinary approaches drawing on public health, social work, education, psychology, law and policy, legal and human rights principles, and the components of an effective national child protection system. It also covers data and evidence-based advocacy, digital solutions, and leadership and negotiation skills, using research, case studies, peer learning and individual feedback from specialists.

Key dates

Applications must be submitted by December 1, 2026.
