Harris Social Impact Fellowship 2027-2028 (Funded)
Overview
The Harris Social Impact Fellowship 2027-2028 is a highly selective, full-time, 11-month programme for recent graduates and early-career professionals with strong STEM skills and a passion for evidence-based change. It was designed by faculty of the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. It combines intensive training in policy analysis and research, critical reasoning and data analytics with a hands-on placement at a leading research centre or policy institute.
Fellows start with eight weeks of academic coursework at the University of Chicago in research methods, data analytics, economic analysis and analytical politics. They then spend nine months in immersive placements tackling issues such as education, public safety, health equity, climate change and government efficiency. The experience ends with a capstone project addressing a real-world policy challenge in partnership with a mission-driven organization.
Along the way, fellows receive professional development coaching, workshops, mentorship from policy leaders, personalised career guidance and access to faculty, alumni and practitioners. An annual retreat keeps alumni connected.
