Gloria’s Foundation Fellowship 2027: $5,000 Fellowship for Activists, Artists, Change-Makers and Creative Thinkers in New York City
Overview
The Gloria’s Foundation Fellowship 2027 runs for one full year from January through December 2027, selecting two individuals to participate in the cohort. The program honors the legacy of Gloria Steinem’s historic New York City home by serving as a site of inspiration, creativity, organizing, and respite. It is intended to support independent work and projects that center on justice, organizing, creativity, and social change.
Who can apply
Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of participation and able to work in the United States. Candidates must identify as activists, artists, change-makers, or creative thinkers whose work or independent projects center on justice. Participants are required to either already live in the New York City metropolitan area or secure their own housing there for the duration of the fellowship, as the foundation does not provide housing assistance.
What you get
Selected fellows receive a $5,000 stipend and access to a dedicated workspace on the Upper East Side of New York City twice per month from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, which must be booked at least one week in advance. The office space features a Mac desktop computer, a printer, a physical workspace, library access during visits, and provided lunches when working on-site. Participants also gain support from the foundation team, community-building opportunities, and invitations to Talking Circle programming, alongside the chance to organize two Talking Circles of up to five guests each.
Requirements
Fellows must be present in person for the required workspace usage twice per month, meaning applicants must carefully weigh their ability to participate on-site. When organizing Talking Circles, fellows must select topics, invite up to five guests subject to foundation approval, coordinate with staff, and schedule the events at least two months in advance outside of holidays. Additionally, fellows are expected to contribute to the growth of the foundation by providing program feedback through an interview with staff.
Key dates
The fellowship runs from January 2027 through December 2027.
