Overview

The Global Changemaker Fellowship is a six-month virtual leadership programme for young people committed to creating change in their communities. Because it is delivered online, participants take part from their home countries while continuing to work on their own initiatives. The programme combines leadership development, practical learning, mentorship and international networking, and it is relevant to work on education, climate action, health, gender equality, agriculture, youth empowerment and other Sustainable Development Goal challenges.

What you get

Fellows build practical leadership capabilities in several areas. Systems thinking helps them understand how social, economic, environmental and institutional factors interact in complex problems. Thought leadership covers communicating ideas, influencing conversations and engaging different audiences. Polarities management teaches how to balance competing priorities or perspectives, and adaptive and collaborative leadership focuses on responding to change and building partnerships with different stakeholders. The aim is to help young changemakers move from ideas and individual action toward more strategic and sustainable community impact.

Participants join an international community of young changemakers and have access to mentorship, virtual workshops and peer learning. The network can lead to future collaborations, shared knowledge and new perspectives on local challenges.

Who can apply

The fellowship suits young community leaders, social entrepreneurs, youth advocates, nonprofit and civil-society leaders, community organisers, and students or recent graduates involved in social-impact work. Applicants should show a genuine interest in community development and social impact, be willing to take an active part in the virtual programme and collaborate with people from different backgrounds. It is particularly useful for those who already have a community initiative or idea they want to develop.

Requirements

Participants need reliable internet access and enough availability to take part throughout the six months. Strong applications describe the community challenge being addressed, the initiative under development, previous leadership or volunteer experience, the impact hoped for and how the fellowship would strengthen the work.
