Overview

The Dalai Lama Fellows Program 2027 is a year-long international leadership initiative founded in 2010 with the inspiration of the 14th Dalai Lama. The programme is designed for emerging changemakers and community leaders who are committed to addressing global challenges through community-based projects. It combines leadership education, personal coaching, contemplative practices, and opportunities to learn alongside a global community of peers.

Who can apply

Eligible applicants must be between 20 and 36 years old as of 1 April 2027 and possess fluency in written and spoken English. Candidates must be actively involved in a social change initiative or present a well-developed plan for one, demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the community and issue their project addresses, and show interest in participating in contemplative practices. Having at least one year of previous experience working with the target community is preferred. Focus areas include health and well-being, education and youth development, social justice, the environment, cultural understanding, and contemplation.

What you get

Participants join a year-long leadership development curriculum known as Head, Heart, Hands, which supports intellectual growth, emotional awareness, and ethical reflection. Fellows receive individual and small-group coaching to support their personal development and project progress. The programme grants access to an international leadership network for exchanging ideas and building relationships, ongoing support for community-based projects, and the integration of contemplative practices for self-awareness and compassion.

Requirements

Fellows must commit to active participation across the online learning platform, individual coaching, group learning calls, and other fellowship activities. This participation is estimated to require approximately 12 hours per month, which excludes the time spent working directly on the fellow's project.

Key dates

Applications opened on 1 October 2026. The application deadline is 11 November 2026.
