Community Engagement Exchange Program 2027: U.S. Leadership and Professional Exchange for Emerging European Leaders
Overview
The Community Engagement Exchange Program 2027 is an international leadership and professional exchange initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, funded by the U.S. Government, and implemented by IREX. The programme is designed to equip emerging leaders with practical experience, leadership skills, and professional networks to help them strengthen their communities through civic participation, freedom of expression, constructive dialogue, and local problem-solving.
Participants take part in a U.S.-based exchange experience that includes a customised four-week placement with a U.S. host organisation, community activities, and hybrid leadership learning featuring both virtual and in-person components. The initiative combines professional placement, leadership education, applied learning, and cross-cultural collaboration to help participants build lasting international relationships and apply what they learn to their home communities.

The programme is open to emerging European leaders between the ages of 22 and 27 who want to strengthen their leadership capacity, engage in civic development, and contribute to their communities.
