Overview

The Churchill Fellowship 2027 funds professionals, community leaders, practitioners and changemakers to explore ideas overseas and bring practical solutions back to their communities. It is a practical learning fellowship rather than a programme of academic study. Fellows research successful approaches, meet experts, visit leading organizations and return with evidence-based recommendations to improve communities, organizations, industries and public services. International learning experiences typically last up to two months, depending on the approved project.

What you get

Support may include funding for international research travel, travel expenses, accommodation support, a daily living allowance, travel insurance, pre-departure guidance, access to a global professional network, leadership development, ongoing support after the fellowship, membership in the Churchill Fellows community and opportunities to share findings nationally.

Who can apply

The fellowship welcomes people with a passion for positive social change and practical experience in their field, who can explain how international learning will benefit their work and are committed to sharing knowledge afterward. They need a realistic research proposal and must meet the programme's residency and eligibility requirements. Academic qualifications are not the main criterion, and a university degree is not necessarily required. Themes include climate change, education, public health, community development, social innovation, arts and culture, technology and digital inclusion, disability inclusion, mental health, youth development, environmental sustainability, economic development, justice and equality, and agriculture and food systems, with an open category also possible.

How to apply

Applicants may need a completed form, personal statement, research proposal, CV, evidence of professional or community experience, references and other requested documents. Applications are assessed on project quality, leadership potential, commitment to social impact, practical experience, innovation, feasibility and ability to share knowledge afterward. Shortlisted candidates may be interviewed.
