Overview

The CDC Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program 2027 provides professional on-the-job training in public health informatics, which is the systematic application of knowledge regarding systems that capture, manage, analyze, and use information to improve population-level health outcomes. Fellows are assigned to host sites within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to work on advanced projects that enhance information systems and data projects intended to improve national health. Participants share their expertise while simultaneously expanding their skills through a combination of classroom and experiential learning.

Who can apply

Applicants must fulfill the educational, informatics, public health, and research experience requirements. Candidates must also demonstrate a willingness to commit to a two-year, full-time fellowship and relocate to the location of their assigned host site.

What you get

Fellows operate as full-time equivalent federal government employees throughout the duration of the two-year fellowship and receive standard benefits provided to such employees, which include paid annual and sick leave. Participants with a master's degree receive compensation at the GS 11, step 3 level, while those holding a doctoral degree are compensated at the GS 12, step 3 level. Participants may also qualify for a salary increase following the completion of their first year, subject to performance and written recommendations from the appropriate management officials.

Key dates

The application period concludes on November 6, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET. All applications and corresponding supporting materials must arrive by this deadline, as late submissions are not accepted.
