Call for Applications: Next 36 Program 2027
Overview
Next 36 Program 2027 is run by NEXT Canada, which each year selects 36 of the most entrepreneurial undergraduates and recent graduates from across Canada who it believes can build the country's next unicorn. It is a high-touch programme of academic lectures, mentorship and workshops delivered by a large network of alumni and partners. The first four months, January to April, run virtually, and the remaining four months, May to August, are delivered in person in Toronto. It suits people with an early-stage startup to take further, or an idea they want to turn into reality.
What you get
Participants learn how to build, launch and scale from successful entrepreneurs and award-winning faculty. They join a community of more than 1,000 alumni with access to coaching and resources, and gain access to NEXT Canada's investor network. They may be paired with a mentor who has launched a venture, get a productive workspace among other entrepreneurs, and receive services from partners such as cloud hosting and legal support.
Who can apply
Next 36 accepts undergraduates, master's students and recent graduates from schools across Canada, from any academic discipline. It looks for problem solvers, social champions, community leaders and academic leaders.
Requirements
Applicants must commit full time to the programme during the summer intensive period, May to August 2027, which means being present in Toronto for required sessions. They must take part in all mandatory activities and follow NEXT Canada's code of conduct.
How to apply
The application asks for education experience, short answer questions and a short video of up to 60 seconds answering an interview question. Applicants can save their progress and return at any time before the due date.
Key dates
The deadline is October 14, 2026 at 11:59pm. The programme runs from January to August 2027.
