Overview

The Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity programme is a fully funded fellowship based at the International Inequalities Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The programme is recruiting its eleventh cohort for 2027–28 and brings together policymakers, researchers, activists, practitioners, artists, and movement-builders to address social and economic inequalities. Fellows can participate through either a Residential track, which involves spending one year in London to undertake the MSc in Inequalities and Social Science, or a Non-Residential track, where participants remain in their home countries to develop a practice-based project and receive a Postgraduate Certificate in Social and Economic Equity.

Who can apply

The fellowship is designed for mid-career social-change leaders who have at least seven years of experience challenging inequalities. Applicants may come from diverse professional backgrounds, including community organising, advocacy, civil society, public policy, and the arts, and work across areas such as economic and social rights, environmental justice, tax justice, women's rights, minority rights, disability rights, housing and urban inequalities, and labour rights.

What you get

Participants engage in an active fellowship year that combines academic learning, leadership development, reflection, and community-building. Residential Fellows complete a master's degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science, while Non-Residential Fellows complete a postgraduate certificate. All Fellows take part in four bespoke fellowship modules focusing on the foundations of social and economic inequalities, policy for equity, challenging and transforming inequality, and debates around inequality.

Key dates

The application deadline is 5:00 PM GMT on 11 January 2027, and late applications are not accepted. The fellowship programme takes place during the 2027–28 academic period.
