1834 Global Fellowship 2027 for Black Canadians
Overview
The 1834 Global Fellowship 2027 is a 9-week programme for high-potential Black Canadians aged 20 to 30 who aspire to lead in global civic and international affairs. It combines expert mentorship, intensive virtual mixers and real-world policy research with leading international organizations. The aim is to give Fellows the tools, training and networks to understand and shape the global systems that affect Black communities in Canada and around the world. The programme is offered in collaboration with the Centre for Diaspora and Transnational Studies at the University of Toronto.
It has three parts. Weekly facilitated mixers cover global issues and leadership challenges in areas such as diplomacy, governance, advocacy and policy design. In research projects, Fellows work in policy teams on real-world global issues, each paired with an experienced Coach in global affairs. The programme ends with a Summit that brings together policymakers, analysts, nonprofit leaders and civically engaged Black youth, where Fellows present their research.
